Hard to recommend this pub restaurant highly enough. We were staying nearby and ate here every night. The food was excellent as was the service, and the beer stellar. It has a great atmosphere and a 9 hole golf course to whet your appetite!
lovely service and cozy bar. Golf is a great deal for 15 quid, fairways are well kept and holes are challenging. lots of hard dog legs. a bit mushy after rain due to the soil composition. enjoyed hole 7 the most!
We've just returned from another stay in the Brown Trout , we "treated " ourselves to one of the beautiful cottages! OK it was more expensive than the rooms but we felt it was worth it! Had all the mod cons , beautifully decorated & spacious which were serviced everyday! Most importantly DOG FRIENDLY ! Only one disappointment that we didn't get a chance to use the open fire as the weather was too good! Obviously you are very close to the "Inn" itself which as always we found it fabulous .. food/ craic etc . One jewel(s)that the Brown Trout have are their staff from front of house, catering, cleaning & groundsmen it is so obvious they work as a team! Hope to be back soon!

Heard nothing but good reports about The Brown Trout, and they weren't wrong! A quiet, isolated location, clean and comfortable rooms, crackling fireplaces in every corner of the hospitality areas, and the most heartwarming meals. There's a certain magic about the place that leaves you relaxed, and restored. I for one will be returning!!!
I absolutely loved my stay here. The room was big, clean, and very cozy. The staff were incredible; so helpful and kind. (Jane even drove me into town twice because I had trouble getting taxis.) And the restaurant is SO good! Big portions and so delicious; the included breakfast is phenomenal. A bonus is that the locals who frequent the pub are such lovely, lovely people. I had a wonderful time and will definitely come back for another stay.
Brilliant stay. Rooms are clean and warm. Beds comfy. Dog friendly is a major bonus. Great menu and range of drinks. Food is very tasty and well priced. Quiet location with great walks.
